A mattress is not one slab. It is a stack of layers, and each layer does a different job.
- Cover — the fabric you lie on. It often zips off so you can wash it.
- Quilting or pillow top — thin padding stitched into the cover for softness.
- Comfort layer — the top two or three inches. This decides how the bed feels.
- Transition layer — a middle layer, so you do not drop straight from soft to hard.
- Core — the thick slab underneath. This is what holds your weight.
- Base — a firm sheet at the bottom that keeps the mattress in shape.
The two that matter most are the comfort layer and the core. The comfort layer decides how the bed feels. The core decides whether it holds you up.
That is why "memory foam or pocket spring" is a confusing question. Memory foam is a comfort layer. Pocket spring is a core. A mattress can have both at once, and several here do.
Only one of the two is easy to change. A foam topper can soften a mattress that feels too hard — roughly ₹5,000 to ₹9,000 for a queen. It cannot work the other way. Nothing you add on top will firm up a soft core. So the core is the decision worth getting right, and it is the one brands almost never explain.

Warranty terms are the headline figure each brand publishes. What the warranty actually pays out on differs a lot, so read the card below it. Where a term is marked brand site only, the maker does not honour it on a purchase made through an online retailer. Prices are the ones shown on each product page on 22 August 2026, for one size and thickness per mattress, and they change often. Check the live price before you buy.
What thickness should you buy
Thickness is set by body weight, not by height or by taste. The heavier you are, the deeper you press into the top layers. Buy too thin and you sink through them onto the hard base. That is when a new mattress starts to feel like the floor.
A thicker mattress is not a softer one. Firmness comes from the core. Thickness only decides how much material sits between you and that core.
Sharing the bed? Go by the heavier person. Side sleepers push more weight through one shoulder and one hip. Near the top of a band? Take the thicker option.

Emma gives this the longest warranty on the page, fifteen years. It also puts a number on firmness instead of a word: eight out of ten. So it is genuinely firm, not the soft sink-in memory foam many people expect.

It is the wrong choice if you are buying memory foam because you want that soft, sinking, hugged feeling, because this is a firm mattress. This is worth considering if you often feel too warm at night, or if you share the bed with someone who moves about a lot. Springs let air move through the mattress, so heat does not build up the way it does in a solid block of foam. Each spring is wrapped on its own, so when the person next to you turns over, you feel much less of it. It is also the only mattress on this page that you can sleep on for a while and then send back. Dreamzee is latex all the way down. Most beds sold as latex here are just a latex layer on a foam base. Dreamzee also publishes the density of both layers, which almost no brand does. The soft top layer is always two inches, whatever height you buy. So the eight-inch version feels firmer than the six-inch, not softer. There is no trial and no return. Send the delivery back and Dreamzee keeps 25 percent of what you paid.

This one suits you if you have slept on a latex mattress before and know you enjoy it. SleepyCat is the only brand here that tells you how thick each layer is. Only one inch of the six is latex. The rest is memory foam on top of ordinary high-density foam. It is sold as a latex mattress, but it is mostly foam. SleepyCat pays out once the mattress sags by one inch, and no other brand here promises to pay that early. The feel is firm. If you sleep on your side, you may find your shoulder gets sore.

This is a good choice if you sleep on your back and genuinely like a hard bed. Coir is the firmest material used in any mattress, so it holds your spine in a straight line and barely gives at all. It also lets air pass through it more easily than foam does, so it does not get as warm during the night. It is a poor choice if you sleep on your side. When you lie on your side, your shoulder and your hip need to sink in a little. A coir mattress will not let them, and that usually leads to a sore shoulder in the morning.

You almost certainly cannot find out. Of the eleven brand sites we checked for this page, two quote a coil figure and both hedge it. Springtek says 'up to 1000'. Wakeup India says 700-900. Neither says which size. Do not fall back on the shipping weight either: Flo states that its published weight includes the packaging, and Sleep Spa's own chart puts a queen at 20 kg where Amazon says 36.
No. Every Indian mattress brand we checked limits its trial to purchases made on its own website. SleepyCat, Springtek, Wakefit and Emma all say so in their published terms. Dreamzee is the odd one out, offering no trial anywhere at all. On Amazon you get Amazon's return window of roughly 10 days. A compressed mattress expands permanently once unboxed, so treat the purchase as final.
Yes, for every brand on this page. Emma is the one worth a note. Its published terms and FAQ still limit cover to its own website, but Emma told us that wording is out of date and that an Amazon purchase is covered. Keep the invoice whatever you buy. Duroflex also wants the mattress registered within 20 days of delivery, or the cover lapses.
Sagging, and only sagging past a set depth. Duroflex pays once a dip passes 1.5 inches. SleepyCat pays at 1 inch. Nine of the eleven brands we checked never print that number at all, which makes the length of the warranty far less useful than it looks. Most brands also prorate. The first year is a straight replacement, and after that you get credit against the years left. Duroflex voids the cover unless you register within 20 days of delivery, and Sleepwell asks you to register too.
Use the weight guidance the brands publish themselves. Under 80 kg per sleeper, 6 inches is enough. Over 80 kg, choose 8 inches. Over 100 kg, choose 10. A pocket spring needs more depth than foam, because the coil unit and the comfort layers both take up room. Most spring mattresses start at 8 inches for that reason.
They verify different things, and none of them rates comfort. CertiPUR tests foam for emissions and durability. OEKO-TEX tests fabrics for harmful substances. GOLS certifies that latex is genuinely natural, which is the most useful of the three because latex is the most commonly overstated material. An uncertified mattress is not unsafe. It is just unverified.
