The best camera phone in India is the vivo X300 Ultra (₹1,59,999). Its main camera has the largest 200MP sensor on sale. It adds a strong zoom lens and a wide camera good enough to use every day. If you have less to spend, get the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro (₹27,999). It is the only phone under ₹30,000 with a real zoom lens.

This list runs from ₹20,560 to ₹1,69,999, split into budget, mid-range and premium tiers. Want the strongest all-round phone rather than the best camera? vivo X300 Ultra (16GB/512GB)

₹1,59,999on Amazon.in

The vivo X300 Ultra has the best set of cameras on Amazon.in. Its main, zoom and wide cameras all use large sensors with OIS, and all three film 4K120 video in Log. It gets five OS upgrades and seven years of security fixes. The catch is the price, and only 11 owner reviews so far. On a budget, the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro (₹27,999) is the only phone under ₹30,000 with a periscope zoom.

ProductHunter.in compared 18 camera phones sold on Amazon.in. We rated the cameras from their published specs. Sensor size came first, then zoom reach, the wide lens and video. To see how each phone holds up, we read its verified India reviews, up to the last 100 per phone.

In the premium and mid-range tiers, we kept one phone per brand: the one that scored best. The budget tier keeps all four picks. Phones with a run of bad recent reviews, such as the Galaxy M36 and Redmi Note 15 Pro, did not make the list.

Budget Picks (Under ₹30,000)

Under ₹30,000, optical image stabilisation (OIS) on the main camera is the baseline. A real telephoto is the rare extra, and only one phone here has it. Video stops at 4K30 across the tier. Owner reviews also run cooler at this price, with heating and hangs the common complaints. If you mostly shoot video, a smartphone gimbal does more for shaky footage than any phone in this tier.

Nothing Phone (3a) Pro (8GB/128GB)

₹27,999
Nothing Phone (3a) Pro (8GB/128GB)

The Phone (3a) Pro is the only phone under ₹30,000 with a periscope zoom lens. That 3x lens has OIS, so zoomed portraits stay sharp instead of cropped. The main camera has OIS too. It is a 2025 phone, and new reviews have slowed since mid-2026. Owners say the zoom lens is why they bought it.

Nothing Phone (3a) Lite (8GB/128GB)

₹28,889
Nothing Phone (3a) Lite (8GB/128GB)

The Phone (3a) Lite is for buyers who want one good camera, not three. Its 50MP Samsung GN9 main sensor has OIS and matches the (3a) Pro's in size. Everything else is weaker. There is no telephoto, the 8MP ultrawide stops at 1080p video, and the 2MP macro adds little. Recent owners are cooler on it, citing a weak speaker and slowness.

Motorola Edge 60 Stylus (8GB/256GB)

₹20,560
Motorola Edge 60 Stylus (8GB/256GB)

The Edge 60 Stylus is the cheapest phone on this list. Yet its main sensor is as large as those in phones that cost twice as much, and it has OIS. Its 13MP wide camera can focus up close, so it doubles as a macro lens. The problem is the owner record. Recent reviews are far harsher than its lifetime rating, and Motorola promises one OS upgrade.

Motorola Edge 70 Fusion (8GB/128GB)

₹29,490
Motorola Edge 70 Fusion (8GB/128GB)

The Edge 70 Fusion sells well, with 2K+ bought in the past month. Its 50MP main camera has OIS, but the sensor is smaller than most rivals at this price. The 13MP wide camera is fixed-focus, and there is no zoom lens. For a camera phone it is middling. Its owner trend is falling too: the newest 50 reviews average 3.4★, down from 4.2★.

Mid-Range Picks (₹30,000–₹59,999)

This is where a true 3x telephoto becomes common. Five of the six phones below carry one, and it is the main thing separating them. Most share a 1/1.56-inch main sensor with OIS, so compare the zoom lens and the ultrawide instead. The ultrawide is the weak spot of the tier. Four of the six use an 8MP unit, and the OnePlus 13s has none at all.

vivo V70 (8GB/256GB)

The V70 is the mid-range camera pick because it gets the two lenses that matter right. Its 50MP 3x zoom lens gives real reach for portraits. The main camera is large and has OIS. Camera praise is the most common theme in its 108 owner reviews, and only 11% of the last 100 are 1-2★. The 8MP wide camera is the weak link.

Premium Picks (₹60,000+)

Above ₹60,000, the gaps are sensor size and zoom reach. Three phones here have a main sensor of 1/1.12 inch or larger. That is far bigger than anything in the lower tiers. What Verified India Owners Complain About

The spec sheet decides the camera score. The verified India reviews we analysed show how a phone holds up after delivery. These problems recur across this list, and none shows up on a product page.

  • Heating — the top complaint on nearly every phone. It peaks on the Galaxy S24 FE (44 reviews) and OnePlus 13s (29).
  • Fog inside the camera glass — two Galaxy S26 Ultra owners describe it. Nine owners of the older S25 Ultra reported the same.
  • Pre-activated units — two Nothing Phone (3a) Pro buyers received one from third-party sellers.
  • Falling owner scores — the Edge 70 Fusion's newest 50 reviews average 3.4★, down from 4.2★.
  • A late turn — the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's two newest reviews are 1–2★, after a run of 5★ ones.

Fog inside the lens window is a seal failure, not a software bug. Humid air gets past the module's seal and condenses when the phone cools. Wiping the outside does nothing, and it can come back. In a Mumbai or Chennai monsoon, report it as a warranty defect the first time you see it.

Seller choice matters more on phones than on most products. Several picks here are listed by third-party sellers rather than the brand, including the Pixel 10 Pro XL and the Motorola Signature. Check who is selling before you pay, and record an unboxing video. Then open Settings on day one and check the activation or warranty start date. A phone activated weeks before it reached you is a return, not a bargain.

Thin evidence is the last thing to watch. The iPhone 18 Pro and the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro have four verified India reviews each. The Pixel 10 Pro XL has one. Their rankings rest mostly on specs. That is not a flaw in the phones, but it is a reason to keep the return window in mind.

Sensor Size, Real Zoom and Update Years: Reading the Spec Sheet

Three numbers on a listing predict camera quality better than the megapixel count. Here is what each one means on this page.

Main sensor size. A bigger sensor collects more light. That means cleaner night shots and more natural background blur. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra's 1-inch sensor and the 1/1.12-inch sensors in the vivo and OPPO Ultras sit in a class of their own.

Most phones under ₹60,000 use a smaller 1/1.56-inch sensor. The Edge 70 Fusion drops to 1/1.95 inch. A 200MP label does not change this. These sensors merge groups of pixels when you shoot. So most 200MP photos save at 12 to 50MP anyway.

Telephoto reach. Only the optical lens gives sharp zoom. Listings advertise "100x" or "120x", but anything past the lens's own reach is digital cropping. The Tecno's "100X Super Zoom", for example, comes from a 3x optical lens. A periscope folds the lens sideways with a prism, which is how a thin phone fits real 3x to 10x zoom. In our scoring, a real telephoto was the biggest single gap between budget and mid-range phones.

Years of updates left. Phones get better at photos through software, so support matters. Google promises seven years of OS and security updates for the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Samsung lists the S26 Ultra and S24 FE for up to seven years of security fixes.

Count from launch, not from your purchase date. The S24 FE launched in October 2024, so it has less time left than a 2026 phone with the same promise. At the other end, the Edge 60 Stylus gets one OS upgrade.

Processors, displays and batteries matter too, and our smartphone buying guide covers them.

How We Research & Rank

CriterionWeightBased On
Owner Experience30Built from the last 100 verified India reviews per phone. Soft photos, focus hunting, fog inside the lens and heating while shooting pull the score down. Phones with few reviews are pulled toward their tier's average.
Main Camera Hardware25Sensor size comes first: a 1-inch sensor tops the scale and 1/2-inch sits near the bottom. Missing OIS costs about 1.5 points. Megapixel counts and lens co-branding earn nothing.
Zoom & Ultrawide20Seventy percent telephoto, thirty percent ultrawide. Periscope reach and telephoto sensor size lead. Ultrawides gain for 50MP resolution and autofocus. Digital and AI zoom figures are ignored.
Video Capability154K60 or 4K120 on every rear lens beats 4K on the main camera alone. Log, 10-bit Dolby Vision and ProRes earn extra, and 8K is a small plus.
Software & Long-term Support10How many years of updates each phone has left, counted from October 2026. We check each model against the brand's own promise. If a brand publishes no policy, we use its usual practice and take off a little.

Owner experience carries the most weight because a great sensor is worth little on a phone that fogs, overheats or arrives pre-activated. It is also the only criterion that uses review evidence. The other four come from published specs.

Frequently Asked Questions

The vivo X300 Ultra, at ₹1,59,999. Its main camera has the largest 200MP sensor you can buy, held steady by gimbal-style OIS. Its 3.7x zoom lens also has a 200MP sensor, the biggest of any zoom lens here. All three rear cameras film 4K video at 120 frames a second. It scores 9.3, and 10 of its 11 owner reviews from India are 5★.

The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, at ₹27,999. It is the only phone under ₹30,000 with a periscope zoom lens. That 50MP 3x lens has OIS, and so does the 50MP main camera. Owners say the zoom lens is why they bought it. Check the activation date on delivery, as two buyers got phones that were already activated.

The vivo V70, at ₹59,999. It has a 50MP 3x zoom lens and a 50MP main camera, both with OIS. Its owner score of 8.7 ties for the best in the mid tier. Only 11% of its last 100 verified India reviews are 1-2★. Camera quality is the most praised theme. It gets four OS upgrades and six years of security fixes.

Not by themselves. Sensor size and processing matter more. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra's 50MP main uses a 1-inch sensor and scores 9.5 on main-camera hardware. The Galaxy S26 Ultra's 200MP main is 1/1.3 inch and scores 8.9. Most 200MP phones merge pixels in normal shooting and save photos at 12–50MP. Full resolution helps only in bright light.

On hardware, yes. Its 50MP Sony main sensor is larger than the one in the OnePlus 15, which costs ₹84,999. It adds a 3x periscope with OIS, a 50MP autofocus wide lens and 8K video. It scores 8.7, level with the Pixel 10 Pro XL. The doubts are Motorola's update record and a third-party seller.

Between about three and seven years. Samsung, Google and the vivo X300 Ultra lead with seven years of security fixes. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra, OnePlus 15 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra get six. Tecno promises five. The Motorola Edge 60 Stylus gets one OS upgrade and about three years. Apple gives no fixed term for the iPhone 18 Pro.
