The best air purifier in India is the Philips Air Purifier AC2220 (₹18,999) — a True HEPA H13 + activated-carbon unit with a class-leading ~400–420 m³/h CADR and the quietest sleep mode here at just 13 dB, so it clears fine PM2.5 and odours across a ~500 sq ft room without keeping you awake. Air quality in Indian cities routinely crosses 300+ AQI in winter, and even "good" days in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai or Bengaluru hover around 100–150 — well above WHO safe limits. A purifier is no longer a luxury; for anyone in a metro or near a construction site it is basic health kit.
ProductHunter.in evaluated 13 air purifiers available on Amazon.in, scoring each on filtration quality, room coverage and CADR, noise, smart features, and long-term filter cost and service. These are the picks that made the cut, spanning every budget from ₹4,998 to ₹29,900. Two brands dominate the middle — Coway for filter life and pan-India service, Philips for smart features and coverage — while our air purifier buying guide explains HEPA grades and room-size math if you want the full background. An air purifier tackles airborne particles and gases, not damp, so during the monsoon a dehumidifier is the better tool; and for car-cabin pollution, our car air purifiers roundup covers HEPA options under ₹6,000.

Philips Air Purifier AC2220 (2200 Series)
The highest-scoring air purifier in our analysis: a True HEPA H13 + activated-carbon stack with class-leading ~400–420 m³/h CADR that holds a low AQI across a ~500 sq ft room, the quietest sleep mode here at 13 dB, and the best-executed smart package — real-time numeric AeraSense AQI with a reliable auto mode, Wi-Fi app and voice control. It draws just 28 W and is a current 2026 Made-in-India model.

Coway Airmega 150 (AP-1019C)
The reliability benchmark of the category — a 4.7-star rating across roughly 6,500 reviews with 1,000+ units sold a month. Its Green Anti-Virus True HEPA H13 + carbon filter captures down to PM0.01 at 99.999%, the 22 dB sleep mode is genuinely bedroom-quiet, and the 8,500-hour (1.5–2 year) filter keeps upkeep low. Made in India and backed by Coway's on-ground service, it is the safest set-and-forget buy for a bedroom or medium room up to 355 sq ft. The one omission is a numeric AQI display — you get a colour ring, not a number.

Detailed Reviews
Philips Air Purifier AC2220 (2200 Series)

The AC2220 is the most complete air purifier you can buy in India right now. It pairs a True HEPA H13 NanoProtect filter with a genuine activated-carbon stage, so it clears both fine PM2.5 and odours/VOCs — and its ~400–420 m³/h CADR is among the highest here, comfortably holding a low AQI across a ~500 sq ft living room. The 13 dB SilentWings sleep mode is the quietest in this roundup, genuinely bedroom-silent, and the AeraSense real-time numeric AQI with a reliable auto mode is the best-executed smart package on test. It draws just 28 W and is a current 2026, Made-in-India model, with ECARF allergy certification. The only soft spot is service — one verified buyer reported warm, odd-smelling output and a slow Philips helpline — but for most Indian homes nothing else balances filtration, silence and smarts this well.
Pros
- +True HEPA H13 + active carbon with class-leading ~400–420 m³/h CADR
- +Quietest here — 13 dB sleep mode, genuinely bedroom-silent
- +Real-time numeric AQI (AeraSense) with reliable auto mode
- +Wi-Fi app + voice control, ECARF allergy-certified
- +Current 2026 model, Made in India
- +Only 28 W — very low running power
Cons
- -Priced at the top of the mid-range at ~₹19,000
- -One verified report of warm/odd-smelling output + slow Philips helpline
- -Replacement NanoProtect filter is a recurring cost every ~2 years
Score Breakdown
The best all-rounder in India: class-leading CADR, a true H13 + carbon stack, the quietest sleep mode here and a polished numeric-AQI experience. Buy it unless you specifically need a larger-room unit.
Philips AC4221 Smart Air Purifier

If your problem is a big living room, the AC4221 is the pick. Its 4-layer NanoProtect HEPA + double-carbon stack and ~600 m³/h CADR genuinely cover 700–800 sq ft — Delhi-NCR reviewers report clearing AQI 200 to under 20 in 10–12 minutes, and it stays quiet on normal speed thanks to SilentWings. The real-time numeric AQI and Philips Air+ app deliver the best auto mode here, reacting quickly to pollution spikes. It is audible at its 51.5 dB top speed and, at 6.3 kg, less easy to shuttle between rooms. Recent buyers are near-unanimous, and the ~9,000-hour filter keeps running costs sensible. You pay a premium, but for large halls it earns it.
Pros
- +Genuinely covers large 700–800 sq ft living rooms
- +Clears AQI 200 to under 20 in ~10–12 minutes (verified)
- +Real-time numeric AQI + excellent Philips Air+ app auto mode
- +True HEPA + carbon, ~9,000 hr filter life
- +Uniformly strong recent reviews, solid build
Cons
- -Premium price (~₹25,000)
- -Audible at top fan speed (51.5 dB)
- -Heavier at 6.3 kg — less easily moved room-to-room
Score Breakdown
The pick for large living rooms: it actually clears 700–800 sq ft fast, with the best app on test. Choose it over the AC2220 only if room size is your priority.
Coway Airmega 150 (AP-1019C)

The Airmega 150 is the reliability benchmark of the category — a 4.7-star rating across roughly 6,500 reviews and 1,000+ units sold a month make it the default set-and-forget choice. Its Green Anti-Virus True HEPA H13 + carbon stack captures down to PM0.01 at 99.999%, the 22 dB sleep mode is genuinely bedroom-quiet, and the 8,500-hour (1.5–2 year) filter keeps upkeep low. It is Made in India and backed by Coway's on-ground service, which is why it holds up over years where cheaper units fail. The one real omission is a numeric AQI display — you get a colour ring, not a number. For a bedroom or medium room up to 355 sq ft, it is the safest buy here.
Pros
- +Anti-virus True HEPA H13 + carbon, PM0.01 at 99.999%
- +Highest rating in the field: 4.7 stars across 6,500 reviews
- +22 dB sleep mode — excellent for bedrooms
- +8,500 hr (1.5–2 yr) filter life keeps upkeep low
- +Made in India with reliable Coway service
- +Deep discount off ₹34,900 MRP
Cons
- -No numeric AQI display — only a colour ring
- -Some buyers feel it is pricey for a fan-plus-filter unit
- -Isolated button-panel / QC gripes
Score Breakdown
The most trusted purifier in India. For a bedroom or medium room, its blend of high-grade filtration, silence, long filter life and real service is hard to beat at ₹15,533.
Coway Airmega AIM (AP-0623B)

The Airmega AIM delivers most of the Airmega 150's Coway DNA for under ₹13,000. You get a full 3-stage pre + anti-virus True HEPA + carbon filter, a 360° intake with auto-oscillation, a remote and a reliable auto mode — plus a rare 7-year motor warranty. At 3.3 kg it is the lightest cartridge unit here, easy to move room to room, and the 22 dB sleep mode keeps bedrooms quiet. Its 4.7-star record across 2,198 reviews confirms the value, and buyers repeatedly call it a deal that does more than you pay for. The catches are minor: it gets loud at top speed and, like its siblings, shows a colour ring rather than a numeric AQI. Nothing else at this price is this well-rounded.
Pros
- +Full 3-stage True HEPA + carbon for under ₹13,000
- +4.7 stars across 2,198 reviews — proven value
- +360-degree intake, auto oscillation and remote
- +22 dB sleep mode; reliable auto 'set-and-forget'
- +7-year motor warranty; 8,500 hr filter life
- +Light at 3.3 kg, easy to move
Cons
- -Fan is noticeably loud at the highest setting
- -No numeric AQI display (colour indicator only)
Score Breakdown
The best-value pick on test: a complete 3-stage Coway with oscillation, a 7-year motor warranty and a 4.7-star record under ₹13,000.
CUCKOO Respure Air Purifier

CUCKOO's Respure is a strong, well-supported Korean-built mid-ranger. Its 3-stage pre + True HEPA H13 + activated-carbon stack is a genuinely high grade, it covers a large 570 sq ft with a fast 15-minute clean cycle, and the energy-efficient BLDC motor is backed by the longest warranty here — 8 years on the motor. What repeatedly stands out in reviews is proactive after-sales and setup support, the sort of ownership experience that matters when a purifier runs daily for years. It does get loud at its 57 dB maximum, and with only ~290 reviews it is less battle-tested than the Coway units. But it is a current 2026 model and the support story is excellent.
Pros
- +3-stage True HEPA H13 + carbon, current 2026 model
- +Large 570 sq ft coverage with a 15-minute clean cycle
- +Quiet on normal speeds and aesthetically designed
- +Energy-efficient BLDC motor, 8-year motor warranty (longest here)
- +Repeatedly praised, proactive after-sales support
Cons
- -Loud at maximum fan speed (57 dB)
- -Smaller review base (~290) — less long-term validation
- -No full numeric AQI screen, only a smart indicator
Score Breakdown
A well-supported Korean unit with H13 + carbon filtration, large coverage and the longest motor warranty on test. Ideal if after-sales peace of mind is your priority.
Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite

For a connected home on a budget, the Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite is the smartest thing under ₹13,000. It reads out a real-time numeric AQI on a crisp OLED and ties into the Mi Home app plus Alexa and Google, all wrapped around a TÜV Allergy Care-certified True HEPA H13 + carbon filter that comfortably handles a 462 sq ft bedroom. Owners report solid one-to-three-year durability and effective cleaning. The catch is ownership: Xiaomi will not repair the unit once the one-year warranty lapses — even at your own cost — and a few units develop stuck PM-sensor readings. At 32 dB it is fine but not the quietest here. Buy it for the smart features, eyes open on the service policy.
Pros
- +Best smart features at the price: numeric OLED AQI + app + Alexa/Google
- +True HEPA H13 + carbon, TÜV Allergy Care certified
- +462 sq ft coverage for medium-large bedrooms
- +Good long-term durability reported (1–3 years)
- +Efficient 33 W
Cons
- -Xiaomi will not repair units after the 1-year warranty, even at your cost
- -Some units develop PM-sensor faults (stuck readings)
- -32 dB is average, not the quietest here
Score Breakdown
The connected-home pick: numeric AQI, app and voice control with certified H13 filtration at a keen price — provided you accept Xiaomi's no-repair-after-warranty stance.
Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 355

The Air Purifier 355 is the dependable Indian-brand choice, and its real edge is service — Eureka Forbes runs one of the strongest pan-India networks, which matters more than a spec sheet when something breaks. Filtration is genuine: a 4-stage stack with a True HEPA H13 filter and Surround 360° intake that reviewers say clears a 480 sq ft room in about 10 minutes, near-silently. The trade-off is usability: there is no automatic mode, so you set the fan speed manually, and the AQI sensor can be slow to react. The review base is small (166). If you want an Indian-made unit with service you can actually reach, it delivers.
Pros
- +4-stage True HEPA H13 filtration, Made in India
- +480 sq ft coverage with Surround 360° intake
- +Near-silent operation praised by buyers
- +Backed by Eureka Forbes' strong pan-India service
- +PM2.5 display to track air quality
Cons
- -No automatic mode — speed must be set manually
- -AQI sensor can be slow to react / read low
- -Smaller review base (166)
Score Breakdown
A dependable, service-backed Indian pick with genuine 4-stage H13 filtration. The compromise is manual-only operation — you drive the fan speed yourself.
Shark HP300 Air Purifier (NeverChange)

Buy the HP300 for one thing: filtration. It is the only True HEPA 14 (H14, 99.995%) unit here, a grade above every H13 rival, in a 4-layer stack with an odour neutraliser — and its 5-year NeverChange filter means near-zero filter running cost, a genuine saving of up to ₹16,000 over the period. The numeric PM1.0/2.5/10 display and auto mode work well, and real cleaning is strong (PM2.5 250 to ~20 in about 90 minutes). Two caveats are important, though: the headline 1,400 sq ft coverage is heavily overstated — Indian buyers report real effectiveness nearer 300–350 sq ft, so treat it as a room unit — and reliability varies, with several DOA/early-failure reports pulling down a 4.1-star average. Great filter; manage your expectations on coverage and QC.
Pros
- +Highest filtration grade here: True HEPA 14 (H14, 99.995%)
- +5-year NeverChange filter — near-zero filter running cost
- +Numeric PM1.0/2.5/10 display and good auto mode
- +Strong real cleaning: 250 to 20 PM2.5 in ~1.5 hours
- +4-layer filtration with odour neutraliser
Cons
- -1,400 sq ft coverage claim is heavily overstated (real ~300–350 sq ft)
- -Unit reliability varies — several DOA / early-failure reports
- -Premium price for the real-world coverage delivered
Score Breakdown
The filtration and low-filter-cost pick: the only H14 unit here with a never-replace 5-year filter. Ignore the 1,400 sq ft claim and treat it as a ~350 sq ft unit.
Dyson Hushjet Purifier Compact HJ10

The Hushjet HJ10 is a stylish, low-maintenance particulate cleaner. Its washable electrostatic media hits HEPA-grade 99.97% on dust — reviewers report indoor AQI dropping to ~1 and real relief from dust-mite allergy and eczema — and the 5-year washable filter means near-zero filter cost. It lives up to its name on noise, with a proper night mode, and the compact 3.15 kg build is premium. But there is a hard limitation: no activated-carbon stage, so it does not remove strong odours or gases — buyers confirm this — and the AQI sensor is unreliable on several units (stuck high or at 999), with Dyson after-sales described as unhelpful. Buy it for dust, not smells.
Pros
- +Washable 5-year filter — near-zero filter running cost
- +HEPA-grade 99.97% particulate capture; indoor AQI to ~1 reported
- +Genuinely quiet with a proper night mode
- +Premium, compact, ergonomic Dyson design
- +Helps dust-mite allergy / eczema per buyers
Cons
- -No activated-carbon stage — does not remove odours/gases
- -AQI sensor unreliable for several units (stuck high / at 999)
- -Dyson after-sales reported unhelpful by some buyers
Score Breakdown
A premium, near-silent particulate cleaner with a wash-only filter. Only pick it if odour control isn't a priority — there's no carbon stage.
Sharp Air Purifier FP-F40E (Plasmacluster)

The FP-F40E is the durability pick — an old-school Sharp that owners simply keep running. Its genuine Pre + True HEPA + carbon stack plus Plasmacluster ion tech is proven, many buyers report 2–3 years of trouble-free use, and it is silent on low while sipping 31 W. A 7-year motor warranty and a large 2,140-review base back the reliability story. The compromises are real, though: it is an older design with no AQI display and no auto mode (manual only), covers a modest 320 sq ft, and its replacement filter costs about ₹5,000 — a meaningful running cost. If longevity beats features for you, few units here are this dependable.
Pros
- +Proven long-term durability — many report 2–3 years like new
- +True HEPA + carbon + Sharp Plasmacluster ion tech
- +Silent on low, energy efficient (31 W)
- +7-year motor warranty; large 2,140-review base
- +Easy filter clean and replacement
Cons
- -High replacement filter cost (~₹5,000)
- -No AQI display or automatic mode (older design)
- -Occasional warranty-claim friction reported
Score Breakdown
The durability pick: a simple, proven Sharp that runs for years. You give up smart features and pay more for filters in exchange for dependability.
Philips AC0920 Smart Air Purifier

On paper the AC0920 is excellent value — a real-time numeric AQI ring and a very quiet 20.5 dB sleep mode under ₹9,000, with a NanoProtect HEPA + carbon filter and a light 2.5 kg body. It is hugely popular, with 1,000+ sold a month. But the reliability picture is the problem, and the reason it ranks low: a firmware filter-lock disables the unit after roughly three months unless you fit a pricey Philips OEM filter, and recent reviews cite mainboard failures and slow warranty resolution, with the AQI reading drifting high over time. Coverage is a bedroom-only 300 sq ft. It is a capable little unit undermined by anti-consumer firmware.
Pros
- +Real-time numeric AQI ring — rare at under ₹9,000
- +NanoProtect HEPA + carbon filtration
- +Very quiet 20.5 dB sleep mode
- +Light (2.5 kg) and easy to place
- +Extremely popular — 1K+ bought per month
Cons
- -Firmware filter-lock: stops working ~3 months without a pricey OEM filter
- -Recent mainboard-failure reports and slow Philips warranty resolution
- -Small 300 sq ft coverage — bedroom only
- -AQI reading can drift high after a month
Score Breakdown
Good hardware, compromised ownership: numeric AQI and a quiet sleep mode cheaply, but only worth it if you'll always buy Philips OEM filters and accept the firmware lock.
Honeywell Air Touch V2 (4-stage)

The Air Touch V2 is a no-frills 4-stage bedroom unit at a fair price. Its pre + H13 True HEPA + carbon stack is genuinely good filtration, it covers a standard ~388 sq ft room, and it runs silently in normal use in a compact, movable body. The catch is consistency: the 4.0-star average reflects real QC variance, with several 'stopped working' reports and some poor after-sales experiences, and it can get noisy on higher speeds. Features are basic too — a filter-change indicator but no numeric AQI or auto mode. Solid cleaning for the money, provided you accept the reliability lottery.
Pros
- +Genuine 4-stage pre + H13 HEPA + carbon filtration
- +Covers a standard ~388 sq ft bedroom well
- +Silent in normal use, compact and movable
- +Established Honeywell brand
Cons
- -QC/reliability variance — several 'stopped working' reports
- -Can be noisy on higher speeds
- -No numeric AQI display or auto mode
- -Some poor after-sales service experiences
Score Breakdown
A straightforward 4-stage H13 bedroom unit with good filtration at a fair price. The risk is uneven reliability and basic features — no auto mode or numeric AQI.
LEVOIT Core Mini Air Purifier

The Core Mini is the entry point to air purification at under ₹5,000. It is genuinely quiet (25 dB), featherweight (1.06 kg) and sips just 7 W — perfect on a desk or bedside table — with a 3-stage HEPA-grade + carbon filter and a 100% ozone-free design, plus a huge global review base for reassurance on the design itself. But know its limits before buying: real coverage is only ~183 sq ft, so it struggles in a normal-size Indian room; the filter is HEPA-grade, not certified True HEPA H13; there is no AQI display or auto mode; and Levoit's India after-sales is thin, with some early failures. As a compact or second unit it is excellent — just don't ask it to clean a whole room.
Pros
- +Cheapest here at ~₹4,998
- +Very quiet (25 dB) and ultra-low 7 W power
- +Compact and light (1.06 kg) — ideal for a desk or bedside
- +3-stage filtration, 100% ozone-free
- +Huge global review base (94,000+)
Cons
- -Small real coverage (~183 sq ft) — struggles in normal rooms
- -Filter is HEPA-grade but not certified True HEPA H13
- -No AQI display or auto mode
- -Weak Levoit after-sales support in India; some early failures
Score Breakdown
The budget/compact pick: quiet, tiny and dirt-cheap for a desk or small bedside space. Don't expect it to clean a full room, and note the filter isn't certified H13.

How We Research & Rank
| Criterion | Weight | Based On |
|---|---|---|
| Filtration Quality | 30% | Filter media grade — a genuine True HEPA H13/H14 beats vague 'HEPA-type' or washable claims; credit for a real activated-carbon stage that removes odours, VOCs and formaldehyde. |
| Clean Air Delivery & Coverage | 25% | CADR (m³/h) and real room coverage at a healthy air-change rate, cross-referenced against reviewer reports rather than inflated marketing coverage figures. |
| Noise & Comfort | 15% | Rated dB at maximum and sleep speed, a true sleep mode, auto-dimming display and non-drafty airflow — a bedroom unit should sit under 35 dB on sleep. |
| Smart Features & Usability | 15% | Real-time numeric AQI sensor and display, a reliable auto mode, app/voice control, filter-life indicator, timer and child lock — weighted by sensor reliability. |
| Running Cost & Reliability | 15% | Annual filter cost and availability, power draw, warranty length and — crucially — brand service network in India, plus reliability complaints in verified reviews. |
Scores are based on Amazon PA-API data, manufacturer specifications and analysis of verified Amazon.in customer reviews. Coverage claims are cross-referenced with user reviews — several products here had inflated claims that buyers disputed.

Our air purifier buying guide covers HEPA grades, room-size and CADR math, filter running costs, and which features actually matter for Indian pollution.
Read the Air Purifier Buying GuideFrequently Asked Questions
You need True HEPA H13. It is certified to capture 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns (H14 goes to 99.995%). 'HEPA-type', 'H11' or 'washable HEPA' filters are not certified to that standard and let more fine PM2.5 through — the particles that matter most in Indian air.
Only if it has an activated-carbon filter. HEPA removes particles, not gases or odours. Most units here include carbon, but the Dyson Hushjet does not — buyers confirm it does not remove strong odours. For a kitchen or a smoking household, prioritise a model with a substantial carbon stage.
The Coway Airmega AIM (₹12,997) is the best value — a full 3-stage anti-virus HEPA + carbon unit with a 7-year motor warranty and a 4.7-star record. The Xiaomi 4 Lite (₹12,999) is the pick if you want a numeric AQI display and app control, while the Eureka Forbes 355 (₹12,999) is the choice for Made-in-India build and the strongest local service network.
Power is cheap — most run 7–70 W, so 24/7 use costs roughly ₹15–130 a month. The real cost is filters: Coway (8,500 hrs) and Philips (~9,000 hrs) filters last about 1.5–2 years, Sharp's replacement is ~₹5,000 per change, while Shark's NeverChange (5 years) and Dyson's washable filters are near-zero cost. Always check the replacement filter price and life before buying.
The Philips AC2220 (13 dB sleep mode) is the quietest and most complete, and the Coway Airmega AIM (₹12,997, 22 dB) is the best value. For a small bedroom on a tight budget, the LEVOIT Core Mini is quiet and cheap but only suits ~150–180 sq ft. In dry winter months, you can pair any of these with a humidifier for comfort — a purifier cleans the air but does not add moisture.
The Philips AC4221 genuinely covers 700–800 sq ft and clears AQI 200 to under 20 in about 10 minutes. The Shark HP300 has the highest-grade H14 filter but its 1,400 sq ft claim is overstated — treat it as a ~350 sq ft unit.
It is useful but not essential. A numeric PM2.5 readout (Philips, Xiaomi, Shark) lets you see the exact air quality and trust the auto mode. Colour-ring units like the Coway clean just as effectively; you just don't see the number. Don't overpay for a display if you'll run the unit on auto anyway.
Follow the filter-life indicator, but typically every 8–12 months in polluted Indian cities, or 1.5–2 years for long-life filters (Coway 8,500 hrs, Philips ~9,000 hrs). Vacuum the pre-filter monthly to extend HEPA life. Washable filters (Dyson) and 5-year 'NeverChange' filters (Shark) are the exceptions.
